THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released their first official joint statement since the arrival of their son yesterday. They welcomed their first child, the Prince of Cambridge, at 4.24pm at St Mary's Hospital in London.
"We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received," they said. "We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone - staff, patients and visitors - for their understanding during this time."
Additionally, a Kensington Palace spokesperson confirmed that "mother, son and father are all doing well this morning". The family are not expected to leave the hospital until this evening or early tomorrow.
The baby's name has not yet been revealed, and will be announced via a press release when the couple are ready - a spokesperson for the Palace told us this morning. Prince William was named a week after his birth, while Harry was given his name the day after he was born.
