You have 40 minutes to do this task.
Comment on the following statement.
Some
people think that life-long friendship exists only in books and films.
What is your opinion? Do you
agree with this statement?
Write 200-250 words.
Use the following plan:
- make an introduction (state
the problem)
- express your personal opinion and give 2-3 reasons for your opinion
- express an opposing opinion and give 1-2 reasons for this opposing
opinion
- explain why you don’t agree with the opposing opinion
- make a conclusion restating your position
Some people state that
life-long friendship doesn’t exist in real life. While others think the other
way round. From my point of view there are some pros and cons /advantages and
disadvantages of this statement/aspect/point/topic/subject/problem.
On the one hand when you are
a schoolboy or a schoolgirl it is easier to make friends with each other
because you have practically the same interests and problems. In comparison
with the period when you are an adult person you are more open-hearted and
sincere when you are a child. You support and trust each other without any
doubts. So, I think it’s a stable basis for a life-long friendship.
On the other hand life is
long. You may choose your own way apart from your best friend, for example, you
can become a businessman and your best friend can become a tax inspector. Such
contradictions can provoke misunderstanding and instability. Is such a situation
a true check of your friendship?
From my personal opinion it
is not, because when your true friend is in need, for example, is deadly ill or
has some other vital problems, you will always forget that you area tax inspector and do your best to help.
Finally, I would like to
point out/ to pay your attention to/state that/ I believe that many book and
film stories are based on real events happened in real life. And I do
believe/hope /think that life-long friendship exists and one can always rely on
his true friend.
Some 1 people 2 think 3 that 4 life-long 5 friendship 6 exists 7 only 8 in 9 books 10
and films.
